Advice for hiring moderators

I may gain mod control for a big subreddit, but I don't have enough time to moderate it only by myself. Is there a good way to hire moderators to handle the daily workload without reddit banning the subreddit?

I could recruit volunteers to be moderators from reddit users, but they are likely to disagree with what I want to do with the subreddit.

I could hire a generic virtual assistant and train them to use reddit. Is there a better way? I worry that if I hire someone to moderate and then fire them for not doing a good job, they may report the subreddit to admins for breaking TOS by paying mods.

You may not pay anyone to specifically moderate a subreddit like you said, but you can have a bunch of alts as moderators in the subreddit. Just make sure to keep the lowest account somewhat active as moderator and get someone newbie from r/needamod, look for someone that is not a moderator in too many subreddits. ( never invite OF models as moderator)

I mod a large amount of NSFW/SFW subreddits, and let me share with you a few pieces of advice that might help, never hire a stranger, never offer them payments, and do not let reddit admins catch you breaking the rules, always use telegram/discord to communicate with other people when it comes to $$, never on the modmail/chat

hire VAs who don't have much experience with Reddit, but can follow simple Reddit ToS and know how to remove bad content that's breaking the site rules

don’t get ambitious VAs, and don’t tell anyone, even the VA, that you’re making money from that subreddit

another moderator can take over the subreddit from you. Never give a mod below you "Everything" permission, they can easily rearrange the mod list and take over the subreddit once you are marked with "inactive", or request it on r/redditrequest, or by sending a modmail to the admins

Create ALT accounts and provide these to people you trust.
