Advice desperately needed on promoting via Facebook!

Share nice wedding photos and photo taking tips regularly in Facebook local groups. I assume you are interested in local clients only. You could find hundreds of local groups in your area. You'll need a smart schedule to do the work.

This is great advice - and its free too.
Look for all local groups, usually they are active too. I wouldn't go the fakepagelikes way, better grow your audience the real way. Get people you made photos for to like and share your page. Get permission to publish their pictures. You should always add the people you made pics for on facebook, then upload some of their pics and tag them after the shooting this will bring the pics up in all their friends newsfeeds - best promo ever!
Take a look at the profiles of your customers that you have as friends and if they have a large friendcount - repost pics of their wedding every anniversary - and ofc tag them again

Well I guess you get what I mean - if you need more help - ask

There is so much more you can do in offline advertising which is free... when you do sessions during the wedding, you could put a small stand with business-cards somewhere. etc etc

Love this, thank you gogreen. What do you mean by a smart schedule? As in posting a photo on a different group every day?

Do you have any recommendations for making Facebook adverts? Would it be better to go normal Ads or Dark Posts since I'm only really looking for local clients? And would it be better to promote one particularly good photo or the page as a whole?

Posts in Facebook groups are similar to the ads in newsfeed. It's a quick way to test your ad copy too. If you find 20 local groups with 500 member each, you have the potential to reach 10k members by posting regularly.

You probably need to try more copies and more photos to start with whether you post to the groups or use ads. Many times, testing is the only way to find out which photo or post copy works best.

If you use 5 photos, 3 photo tips, and 2 posts about your services for a total of 10 posts,

1. It works better to rotate the posts among the groups, and not to post a same copy (or photo) to many groups at the same time because active members belong to and check the posts of many groups at the same time.

2. It'll will reach 200-300% more members if you post at the best time for engagement for that group.

3. How often to post to a group is dependent on the posting frequency of a group. It's OK to post 3 times a day for some highly active groups, but it even looks spammy to post once a day for some local groups.

4. We're talking about 200 posts here (10 posts to 20 groups), it's not feasible to do it manually. We need a a schedule to do the batch scheduling.

5. We want to track the clicks from the posts so we know what posts and what groups perform best.

A smart scheduler should be able to all the above with ease.

Add some facebbok account and add friends . Then share your fan page photos in that facebook account.

Maybe it would be better to go to adwords and target people that are searching for wedding photographers in your state or what ever, the cost per click might be a little bit higher but the traffic will be more targeted and ready to book you.

Creating the fan page is not bigger one to promote mate. Once you created a page then you must be more active by updating two to three valid & attractive posts. By being active you will get more natural likes for your page day by day. You can boom your business in that way if you participate more.

I recommend that you create a page on Google+ instead of Facebook. The traffic that you get there will be better, and you won't have to pay to boost your posts either. Just join circles related to your niche and engage with people.

If you still want facebook then display some great adds, and have a great page. Update content regularly. Have some good pics posted. Some great quotes. Perhaps give incentive like discounts in adds.

Also you can use instagram. Since you're related to Photography you can really attract people there!
