Advertising/Marketing Online?

I have agreed to help my friend get sign ups for a new free website crowd sourcing platform their company has just released.

What methods can people suggest for me to advertise this and make people aware of this on the internet for them to sign up?

1. You shouldn't signup for a job you don't know how to do.
2. Try Facebook Ads?
3. You need to tell us more about the site for us to give you useful suggestions.

Signups need to be incentivized. Find a way for those who sign up to get one of those free netflix/whatever deals, maybe give them that link after they signup. You could potentially even use that as an affiliate deal for yourself...
