Adult link building, harder or easier?

10x harder. especially if you promote paysites; no one is going to pay for porn membership with tube sites everywhere.. i know people who used to make $10k selling porn membership ($35 per sale to sites like Vivid, Bangbros etc) back in the days now having to get a real job... not even making $1500 a month.... horrible conversions.. maybe if you use the traffic for something else but membership conversions dried up a lot years ago.

Yeah iv struggled to get decent links to my porn site. Im finding social media like Tumblr is bringing the traffic though. Iv never promoted PPS. Its always PPL or Revshare for me. Its more like a side project , making a couple of hundred $$ a month. Apart from a few links on porn forums, iv added a link in the "content source"" part of each Tumblr post but whether that gives a good back link if someone with a high PA page reblogs it, im not even sure. I am ranking for a few keywords in my niche though. Think the biggest one gets 3k searches a month
Really difficult to bring in SE traffic to porn sites. The usual link building techniques won't go very well when it comes to adult sites. A suitable method would be active participation within adult forums. Those links can drive traffic too, but most of these visitors would be freebie seekers.

Only porn and adult niche sites will allow you to get link (For exchange) Its damn hard to get links, I have done seo of websites in adult niche. Its better to find other way to get traffic which are more easy than seo.

The niche as a whole I think is harder. Backlinks are probably the least of your worries. As said above, there are so many free tube sites out there now, converting traffic to paid leads is much more difficult than it used to be.
With past experience I truly believe its much harder to rank an adult niche and get some SE traffic. Instead of that one can surely get much more traffic from adult forums and porn tubes. There are lots of groups available on SM sites as well which can drive traffic for this niche.

I run a high profile adult domain and can say it is a million times harder to get "good" links. I have done other non adult related sites and it was like night and day. However my adult domain still makes me the most $ by far. I have been at it since 2006. The problem is that authority sites that you could possibly buy a nice little boosting link on usually will not link to adult content.

I think it depends on the subniche in which one's porn site is in for how hard or how easy ranking is. I've ranked a free porn blog pretty easy for some terms without doing any seo besides using the 2500 site ping submitter.
The subniche and authority of a site can also determine how much money one can make with an adult site. If one has a huge catalog of content and is getting large amounts of unique content a day then it should be pretty easy to bring in nice profits with alot of traffic coming from searches and marketing on tube sites.

As long as you develop creative ways to promote your adult site it will still be fairly easy.
Instead of focusing your time on G you should build a user base elsewhere and when they spread your content you will gain rankings slowly over time.
For starting adult sites SEO should be a secondary traffic source, there are hundreds of ways to get thousands of hits per day easily if you know what you're doing.
Let your users build links for you.

I was in the adult niche for over 4 years, and found it very easy to rank for long tail keywords. The webmasters in that niche are a lot more open to doing A-B-C link exchanges than mainstream imho. You just cant have a bad site. Guest posting was probably my best method of building contextual links and worked great for ranking.
I never did any linking campaigns using GSA Ser or scrapebox so I couldn't say how effective that would be.
Blogs were fairly easy for me to rank using long tail keywords.
As the tubes started taking over the serps my conversions went way down averaging 1 in 3000 to 1 in 5000.
I started mainstream at this point and never looked back.

Even though tube sites have taken so much, Conversions can still be good if the content on a site cannot be found on tube sites.

if the Pay Site's video that you're promoting is difficult to find on torrents and other free tubesites,
it's a good go,
but I would say that most adult sites work best with pop-ups and pop-unders especially mobile redirect,
you get around 2.1 per cpm that's USD$2~2.1 per 1000 views,
imagine your site has around 100k views per day, that's $USD100 / day easy with pop-unders,
as most porn tubers are freebie seekers it's difficult to convert,
but I'm not saying you shouldn't try,
