So I'm wanting to get in to the porn tube game. There's a niche that I see not being complete optimized. My question is, when I see 20gb SSD on places like 3mservers or 100gb isn't this treated no differently then an online hard drive? If I'm wanting to post 100s of videos to really get the ball rolling wouldn't I need 1 or 2TB or even more? The best quality videos can be a couple of GB a piece.

Figured this would be the best place to ask. Thank you in advance.

As I saw porn, sex games niche is super competitive.

When you see server's disk space - you will get it as you see - small part will be occupied by OS.

Properly compressed videos at 720p (I think this is enough quality for most Internet users, but too low quality for big TVs owners) will take up about 10MB / 1 minute.

You can run a porn site with a 30 GB VPS because you don't have to store the files on your server. If you embed videos from other porn sites, you don't use up any storage space on your server - they're hosted on the source site. If you plan to upload the content on your own server, then yes, you need a dedicated server for your site.

For a porn upload can site can you have non dedicated tho? If the users are uploading.

You'll probably need a dedicated server if you want users to upload. If you're on a tight budget, a storage VPS might also be a good option.

The actual front-facing web server is rarely (almost never, except on a small site) where the data is stored.

If you don't know this already you're not the designer of your idea. You need to talk to someone who is. Not meant to be an insult, just saying... modern hosting is complex, it's not just spin up a virtual server and serve HD videos.

You will either need storage blocks (1TB and up, also stackable if you know what are you doing) and integrate them with your machine and website, or if you can't do that you can always find some dedicated machines with like 4TBx2 HDD (RAID or not, your choice) for some reasonable amount of money, but they are considerably slower in regards of website loading speed than NVMe or SSD machines. Also your videos must be compressed as much as possible in order to store any reasonable amount of videos on your machine.
