So I'm verrryyy tech savvy. However this perplexes me. When I want to add adsense to my site, they want me to change my nameservers to theirs? Is that a permanent change? Wtf...

I am assuming you are looking at Adsense for domains which is basically a parked domain that shows up with Adsense ads. For this you need to change the DNS but not for content ad placements. For content ad placements you just need to get the code for the type of ad block you are running and put it in position within your site source code. If you are looking at Adsense for domains, you can change the DNS back to whatever you need should you decide to put up a site. I hope that helps.
