It was in the news that Google would be switching adsense to a CPM model and getting rid of earnings per click. They said some time this year. Seems they have already switched, my account is now showing 100% of earnings coming from CPM bids, and I'm getting no CPC bids, despite lots of traffic and clicks.

Anyone else seeing the same in their estimated earnings today?

Mine has not seemed to have switched yet.

Ignore any conjecture that this is going to impact earnings, it's just a reporting thing to standardize with the rest of the industry that ditched CPC years ago.

The people yelling "the sky is falling" about Google are also usually the broke wannabes.

You can look under "bid types" in your reports and see if advertisers were paying for clicks or by impression. Thursday I was still getting per click bids (75% were CPC bids)... Friday and today it's 100% CPM bids only for the first time ever.

In my case the change just happened sometime Wednesday or early thursday.

My dashboard is still showing me CPC earnings, oddly. If that sounds confusing, what's happening is they are taking my total CPM earnings and just dividing it by the number of clicks... but with 0 (ZERO) cpc bids the actual earnings FROM clicks is actualy ZERO. I got paid 100% for them seeing ads, not for clicking.

Is the overall revenue better than what it was in past ?

From what I have seen so far it's paying $2-3 per 1k impressions. Keep in mind that it's not paying by pageviews, it's paying by ad impression.

- A visitor that bounces and sees no ads doesn't earn you anything
- A visitor that checks out 5 pages, with 7 ads per page, assuming each ad is visible to them for 1 second or more, would generate 35 impressions.

ie: an engaged visitor can pay 75 cents with no click. It looks like the average visitor sees 4 ads on mobile and 5 ads on desktop when you let auto-ads do the placements. That's 6-8 cents per visitor avg, which is about what ezoic was paying.

It no longer seems to take into account the "quality" of the visitor, ie: likeliness to buy. It does seem to pay more attention to traffic source. Search is good, *some* social media networks seem good. Forum pages about the topic are good. Paid ads, not so much. Niche blogs also not so much.

Referrer matters, as does country of Referrer. I could be wrong, this is just what I see so far this week.

One thing for sure, the earnings are much more predictable.

Earnings are below average... with the 100% CPM bids.
I hope Google makes some changes...

I have 100% CPM currently but didn't notice any earning drops

I would recommend you switch to Ezoic. My earnings have quadrupled since I joined the network. I still use adsense since they allow mediation and I only get pennies from them as before.

Google was saying that they were going to release this to prevent abuse. And I think they've put it into action.

Yes, I believe that AdSense payments were good in 2021, but my earnings have dropped by 70% since then, and I'm not sure why. Therefore, I switched to Ezoic, and now my earnings are better, though not as high as they were in 2021. Interestingly, my traffic was not as high in 2021, yet my earnings were better compared to now, when I have higher traffic but lower earnings.

This is nuts. My traffic increased but my Adsense earnings went down by 50% and each month is getting worse :(

I talked to an ad expert from Ezoic who mentioned that earnings are currently not very good because there is less competition among advertisers now than before. He explained that during the COVID-19 situation from 2019 to 2021, when many people were working from home, there was more competition among advertisers. This led to higher payments for ads and higher CPM bids. What do you guys think about this?1709364061099.png
