Adsense, Banner or ??? Which is Best for the $$

Hello. I am building a searching engine for a particular niche. I see similar sites have adsense ads, paid banners, etc. on there site.

I hear a lot of people complain about adsense not making any money for them. I am investing a lot into this site and would like to find a way to bring some $$ back daily.

Any suggestions before I make my site go live?

Also any suggestions on how bringing a lot of people to use my search engine?

I would appreiciate all your help. Thanks in advanced!

Generally the larger the ad and the more in your face without being annoying the ad unit it is the better the ctr, for example I have had the best luck with 280x336's above and below the article or page content to have a good ctr (although this can interfere with the way you site looks, my suggestions is more for a strictly adsense site)

If it is a search engine, you don't need to think too much, check yahoo,bing and google. There are some people earning 100k+ to think about where to put the ads,color and styles. It is also a good idea to check smaller search engines that can go more spammy and see if this approach is effective, in the endo tou can't know it without some testing for your specific site.

But it seems getting someone to buy banner space weekly or monthly would be better than Adsense. right?

You can do both, sell impressions and time, fill with adsense ads the remaining inventory, with some setups you could make the ads to compete and show the most profitable, this way adsense will only show high cpc ads if they beat your other ads.

Everything depends on your volume and time for setup and selling.

Some times almost every body knows about the adsense banner, so try to put on Adsense links, one thing more is that try to put expensive ads, so it will helps you to generate good revenue. try to put two to three adsense on each page if you will put on 4 to 5 ads it will divide you earning which is not good.
