Been earning from adsense for around 13 years and in that time earned around £60k in total. That doesn't make me any kind of expert - but here are a few thoughts for free!
1. Keep as clean as you can. If there's a guideline keep within it.
2. Don't assume your earnings will last forever. I got hit by an Google update about 5 years ago and my earnings went down to about 25% of what they had been.
3. Keep trying new things
4. Don't be afraid to give up on something that's not working. I see people put on this forum - "don't give up you're sure to succeed" that's just rubbish. Some things will never succeed.
5. However don't be impatient and expect instant results.
6. Sometimes something works and you just don't know why
7. Diversify - don't put all your eggs in one basket
8. Don't despise Bing, Yaho etc - they can still give you a nice bit of traffic
9. If you have several domains, spread your domain registration and hosting around just to be safe.
10. Don't beat the hell out of something that is working. Better to earn £20 a month from a site for 10 years than £200 in a year and then get bashed by G.
11. Build websites that you are interested in or have knowledge or experience of.
12. I've just seen an increase in earnings in the last couple of months. It coincided with me making a change in adsense control panel - you can choose to not display the lowest paying ads. I turned off the lowest 30% and my earnings this month are up 85% on same month last year.
13. Keep steadily adding content over a long period of time. Keep your sites clean and tidy, don't overoptimise seo, links or ad units. keep it natural.
