AdSense Ads Placement

Hi guys just wanted your opinion about my ads placement, i finally got the Green Light From the AdSense and have put some ads up on my website.
Take a look and give me feedback is it ok and what could i do to make it perform good.
I am in IM for a while now making money YT+CPA/CB But this is the first time i am starting with advertizing so any input is a valuable one thank you.

Not bad. A couple thoughts. I would consider using something like the Ad Injection plugin that lets you randomize and mix up the sizes and positions of the ads in the body of each article (it gives you a lot of options for testing them). You might try a mix of 336x280, 468x60, and one other ad size within each article. I would also do something with the ad in the right hand area to blend it in more with the color palette of that area (goog's adsense TOS permits things like color blending within reason; you can't have a big red arrow pointing to the ad and saying "Click Here", but you can have the background color of the ad blend in naturally with the area where it is displayed and that can increase your CTR). And I would go with a skyscraper 160x600 ad in that right hand area, those get a lot more attention and clicks.

Great advice, ad injection plugin is ok with adsense?!
About blending in i did remove the borders so it blends with the posts, i had a thought maybe changing the color of the link to "visited link" color so it may trick a visitor a bit. Any Thoughts?!
Skyscraper tottaly i will change that immediately great help!

Hi there,

These are my own personal opinions based on a significant experience using AdSense on a wide range of blogs, message boards and websites. They may or may not work for you.

1) In my experience the best performing AdSense formats are 336x280, 300x250 and 728x90 to a lesser extent. Although ultimately your earnings will depend on CTR (clickthrough rate on your ads), advertisers in general are slowly moving away from formats like 468x60, 234x60 and even 160x600. This means that you might have a smaller advertiser pool for those formats, so I would keep away from these formats and bet on those formats that are likely to have more ad variety.

2) I would make your site wider to take advantage of the real-estate in modern screen resolutions. This would also allow you to (i) make the right-hand column wider in order to fit a 336x280 AdSense at the very top of the column where you currently have the PDFbiz logo (ii) include a 728x90 in the body which will probably work better that your 160x600 and (iii) add a fancy header taking up the entire width of your website directly above the navbar.

3) A fancy header is good because it will attract the attention of the User, especially if you have a nice header graphic which is deinitely missing on your site. I typically create a two-cell HTML table for my header: the left cell includes a 300x250 AdSense unit and the right cell (much wider) includes the actual graphic with site title etc...

4) Finally, I would include a 728x90 between the second and third posts of the home page. If you want to risk it, you could insert it between first and second posts, but after Google's "Top Heavy" algorithm update I would only want to have two AdSense modules visible in first screenshot.

5.) Regarding interior post pages, according to my model you would already have a 300x250 on the header, a 336x280 on the right-hand column, so only space for one more ad (excluding Link Units). I would go for a centered 728x90 after first 2 or 3 paragraphs.

6.) Oh, and I would leave only one search box. No need for two.

Excellent advice i love the way you drew it all, i will definitely do editing of my Template to be wider.
I hope i would get more clicks by submerge ads in between the text so it looks more like a part of a page.

Yeah, ad injection is fine with ad$en$e and other advertisers (as long as you follow their TOS's, like don't load 18 goog ads on one page). The plugin offers you a lot of options as far as placement, rotation of different ads (including different ad sizes and even different advertisers in single spot), and so on.

And yes, things like changing the color of links in the ads are helpful. There's at least one thread on BHW about how to do it effectively, but really if you just read goog's TOS and then play with different color palettes and look at your site you can figure out what blends in naturally and is therefore more likely to get clicks.

I still get pretty good results from 160x600 skyscrapers in sidebars. Also from 336x280 in the body of the posts.

Great advice, will do bunch of them just need to figure out how to stretch the sidebar tried it in editor but to no avail.
I guess there is another wrapper around it but i am not an expert with WP so will have to find someone who is.

It is likely to improve during the early part of March; bear in mind that many advertisers bid high CPC but have monthly budgets, so towards the end of the month you tend to get advertisers that keep their campaigns running all month but with slightly lower CPCs.

Not always the case, but usually in the start of a new month - when you have all advertisers with monthly caps active - bidding tends to yield hicher CPC.

Amazing my fourth day onboard with AdSense and i got â‚¬5.13=$6.71 Yesterday 90% "in post" ads 336x280.
