Many advertisers still run ads full-day, and I used to do the same—launch a campaign and leave it to fate. However, I realized later that this isn’t an optimal approach, especially for conversion-focused campaigns, if you’re working with a limited budget and need to save every dollar.

Why Full-Day Ads Aren’t Ideal for Low Budgets

Running ads 24/7 means they’ll be shown continuously from midnight to midnight, including “dead hours” like midnight to 8 AM. While there are some users online during these hours, purchasing intent is minimal.

  • Who’s messaging businesses at 2–3 AM?
  • Who’s buying products at 4–5 AM?
It’s rare—most people might scroll, show interest, but not act immediately. They’ll often say, “I’ll come back tomorrow” or forget entirely.

If you’re spending $1,000/day, you could easily lose $200–300 overnight without generating sales. The same applies to other low-conversion times like 6–9 AM and 4–6 PM, where both Vietnamese and Western audiences are less likely to buy.

Golden Hours for Conversions

From my experience, the best time to get sales is 8 PM to 1 AM.
During this time, people are relaxed, scrolling on their phones, and their mindset is often “if I like it, I’ll buy it.”

For conversion campaigns where the sole goal is sales, focus your budget on this time slot instead of spreading it out all day. This is particularly effective for those with limited budgets, as you avoid wasting money during low-conversion periods.

When Full-Day Ads Make Sense

  • Big Budgets: If you have a large budget and don’t mind burning cash, running ads full-day is fine.
  • Engagement/Reach Campaigns: These campaigns aim for broad exposure and interaction rather than immediate sales, so full-day ads can work here.
For smaller advertisers or beginners with limited funds, consider focusing on nighttime ads.

Key Takeaways

  • Nighttime ads (8 PM–1 AM) statistically and practically have 2–30% higher conversion rates compared to daytime ads.
  • This focused approach minimizes wasted ad spend and maximizes sales potential.
  • Of course, results depend on factors like content, landing pages, products, and a bit of luck.
If you’re on a tight budget, try this strategy. If you’re a big spender, feel free to stick with full-day campaigns.

Good luck, and happy advertising!

Hmmm..

You can ONLY run timezone campaigns with a set budget unless you keep pausing them manually which is a super bad idea.

Your ADS kinda restart, and again you need to enter a total budget to time schedule your campaigns (For me personally the costs have shown to be higher)

You can retarget the people who got your ads during the late hours (They fell asleep, and purchased on your retargeting)

This makes more sense if you for example are running PPC (Pay per-call) where the brokers are only online during certain hours and off on the weekends, The same with auto insurance and certain other offers, I hate micromanagement.

Simply put, I don't truly agree with you on this matter.

In general I would say that it's better to run it all day. But you can always run some tests to see if running it in different time slots is a good idea or not for your specific case

Running all day is better when you choose the peak time to run. Because every time you run again like that, you will have to reschedule the campaigns. This is very time-consuming and not necessarily effective

In my opinion, ads should be running all day long. If you turn off your campaign, it will take a long time to restart. Additionally, constantly toggling campaigns on and off will impact performance

Generally speaking, the time frame will be more difficult. As the ads will have to wait for some time before they are distributed, it is difficult to get the timing right.

I agree with you about time. People with low budget need to consider very carefully to get the best result

Turning your campaign off and back on will increase your budget and decrease your ad performance. It would be better if you advertise all day long.

Run ads all day or split time? If your budget is limited, focusing on prime time (8pm - 1am) will help optimize conversions, avoiding wasting on dead hours like 2-5am. Use Facebook's "Ad Scheduling" feature to schedule effectively. Monitor and A/B test regularly to determine the best time frame. Smart advertising doesn't need to be spread out, it just needs to be at the right time!

Depending on your budget and the target audience, if your budget is large you can run all day, otherwise divide it into smaller sections focusing on the time zone your customers are online on FB.

In my opinion, running ads at 4am is the best time. After the campaign is active and spending will be around 5:30-6am. This targets customers who wake up early in the morning and look at their phones. I have done this before and it is effective.

I think if I run ads all day, your account and spending will be more stable. If you time it to run and a problem arises, it will take time to process and miss the golden hour

if you turn off the campaign it will take time to run again instead you can run ads all day, turn off and turn on your campaign again reduce ad performance.
