Just a quick question when adding a site to webmaster tools am i best putting all the site variations in such as this below. Also the site is also SSL.

Root Domain

hxxp://example.com
hxxps://example.com

Sub domain

hxxp://www.example.com
hxxps://www.example.com

So should I add all 4 websites in and choose say hxxps://www.example.com as my preferred domain. Or would it be better to just add in 1 website variation into the webmaster tools such as

hxxps://www.example.com

Thanks Guys

I'd put it in however you currently have the domain setup. Ex: you're using wordpress and you have it as www.domain.com Put it in that same way. Just once. That's my opinion anyways.

Its a eCommerce I'm running on magento but i'm trying to cover all basis with adding them to webmaster tools to try and cover all possible variations but I don't know if this is overkill. Would it be better in a SEO sense to add all variations or would this be slightly detrimental to the websites current SEO??

Add this one hxxps://www.example.com as it is new site.

i added my ecommerce website with SSL as the name it is www.example.com; i didn't put http or https and didn't have any problems.

Check how your domain is indexed on google and how your website is setup and add it that way.

Ok i'm going to keep just 1 variation of my domain name. Does anyone know what google means when they say add all variations of the website including http and https versions? Be easier if they just said add just 1 preferred variation you would like to have it show up the same way in the serps.
