So basically I added a few pages on my site that really didn't have any content them at all. I didn't think much of it, I just wanted to add these pages for future ideas etc. I notice earlier today that the traffic I was getting has suddenly declined and my terms that I was ranking for are down like 20-30 ranks or completly disappeared.

So does this happen? I mean are my rankings going to drop if I add content? Will they re appear stronger than before eventually if I add content? I just want to fix this asap.

Im having the same problem I recenlty added 6-10 articles and boom the ranking dropped

Fresh new content should help your site to rise....blank pages have no value to your visitors or the googlebot so obviously this can have a negative impact. To be honest i dont even understand why you would create a bunch of blank pages!! Can't you just write down your ideas on a piece of paper!?!?!?

I dont know about the Op but the 6-10 articles I added was straight unique its still dropped ranking

Well, yes I will be honest it was quite a stupid mistake on my part really. What happened was is I created 10 or so pages on my site because I was expecting content to be published on those pages with a few hours. When that didn't happen I simply forgot to delete the pages.

But I have added new content to other sites as well, and the rankings drop at first, but then they tend to come back up. I just think its sort of strang Google does this.

It might be due to quality of the articles. If you buy articles from a new writer, do check it with a copyscape.

I checked the articles it all pass copyscape and quality articles

Recently i added 20 new articles with 500 word, different keywords website impression go down ! i Have over 80 text with 500 to 1000 words ! i don`t know what g wants then !

Now adding content is fine but make sure that you so not add 20-30 articles at once. Do it gradually, it will be more beneficial.

I believe the case of you guys (who added unique content and lost ranking/traffic) is just coincidence with something else you did/was did to your site. I really can't see a Google penalizing you for a new content, that's more than ridiculous.

The sites I added articles have ZERO backlink

NOTHING have been touch beside adding articles

Where were you ranked before. If you have zero backlinks I'd imagine you're in the far reaches of the abyss. If this is the case you're naturally going to be jumping around quite a bit since you haven't solidified a position.

Bro the domain is aged and I was ranked #13 for months

I tho it will boost a couple spot if I add 10 more quality articles but instead it dropped

I've heard a few seo experts say you shouldn't post too many articles at once, maybe 1-2 a week. 10 at one time will look like you auto generated the content.

Old thread but same topic:

Have aged quality site. Was Ranking #2 and #3 for it's main KW for 2 month; added 6 pages of unique quality content, researched, niche specific, - both main KWs dropped to #5.

The only idea i can come up that there is some kind of domain authority(age) formula in google algo - which temporary decreases the authority of domain by adding fresh content, until it become 'aged'.

was it related content or was it something that was off the wall like you have a site about weight loss but posted make money online content?

Maybe by adding the new articles you pushed some old ones from the homepage, making the current homepage content less relevant for those keywords (assuming it's a blog structure on the homepage)?

Were you getting that traffic to homepage or inner pages?
