So far I've only added this code to the header template.

<meta name="description" content="How to cure chronic fatigue, laziness, lack of motivation, boredom, and restore a new sense of energy and wakefulness that is necessary for living a happy life." />

<meta name="keywords" content="treating chronic fatigue, chronic fatigue treatment, stress and fatigue, sudden fatigue, fatigue disease, chronic fatigue depression" />

Is this done correctly? Is there a limit to how many keywords you can add?

Pardon the noob questions, but is this all that is required keyword-wise? I build backlinks, and these are the keywords I'm pushing up in rankings?

use "All in one seo" plugin . Then you can tailor the keywords and description to each page/post.

Thanks. Now I can delete the tags in the header? And do you have any suggestions as to the max number of keywords I should use?

yes the all in one plugin will automaticaly put them in for you.

5-6 keywords is usually good. google does nt seem to rate them much but bing & yahoo do

The description is important though as that will usually get used in search engine results
