Was addicted to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory for years. I'm still co-leader of a clan, but I don't play anymore. Funny clan server is still active until this day.
 
I forgot to mention Warzone nowadays tho xD
 
persona or SMT franchise are great imo, but the gameplay style might not satisfy you all
 
I've started playing Rank Insignia on mobile. Simple gameplay loop. with subtle complexities as you advance.
 
Heroes of might and magic 2 and 3
Most of the total war games
Team fortress 2 and trading those hats

And lastly which had the biggest (negative) impact on my daytime productivity was Candy Crush saga and every game like it (zumba, dynomite)

The ultimate addictive game was Skyrim though.

And I spent so many hours playing splinter cell chaos theory, still one of my favourites.

MMORPGs are by far some of the most addictive games .I only play one, but I know for a lot of people, being able to come back to a game after taking a break for years and be greeted with new content is a great feeling. The communities, the economies, and the worlds make them feel like life simulators.
