IM made money earning my main hobby. I usually spend 30% of my day maintaining current income sources and 70% trying to create new ones. First thing in the morning I usually like to check the overnight earnings on my phone and it usually makes or ruins my day. If somehow all my income sources suddenly stopped working I’d probably have a panic attack. Also this made me a lot more frugal, I like having money, but I hate spending it on anything that isn’t going to have a return of investment. $10 meal? Nah there is food at home. $10 HQ proxy? Sure! Anyway I’m wondering what kind of impact online money had on others?

Haha i feel you, checking 6 affiliate accounts multiple times daily. Do you also get a good kick out off investing your profits back into possible growth?

I invested a $1 into some random electricity company stock that I predicted will grow soon. Cashed out $3 few weeks later. It’s not as much about the money, but it makes me happy for some reason.

hahaha, you should head out to TLC: My Strange Addiction
but is it strange? ;)

I get pretty obsessed with traffic stats and earnings lately that it feels unhealthy. I dont mind spending a lot on food though.

Sad story. Take control of that before is too late... External events should not affect your feelings.

So sadly you don't enjoy anything? Since external events can make you happier lol? From your standpoint giving birth to your first son isn't supposed to make you happy? Since that is external? Cut the crap man, enjoy life and enjoy those little moments of making money, having succes or having a child

Welcome to the wonder of getting a fresh dopamine rush lol

I probably phrased it badly. Of course external events are going to affect your feelings, you cannot help that, it's just your brain system. But you should not let those feelings control you. That's where the problem begins.
The cornerstone of psychological addiction problems are those short-lived dopamine rushes.

Ok that explanation is 100% true, but enjoying the dopamine rushes is not bad at all, just the addicting tendencies are dangerous!

Well yeah. Enjoying a line of cocaine is also not bad, just the associated addicting tendencies. Obviously not to the same extent but they are both dangerous.
Plenty of people are miserable in modern society because they just can't get happy. They are oversaturated with quick dopamine rushes and cannot truly experience joy. That can lead to depression. It's a hole from which is difficult to escape.

Of course feel happy and enjoy a trip, a walk through the woods, having a son, etc.
But don't look for quick rushes all the freaking time browsing social media, fapping, or F5ing the shit out of your affiliate account panels. For your health, don't make your happiness dependant on those things.

Very valid points. Meditation helps a bit with this

Back in the day, I could not leave the house for checking my EPN and adsense. I remember once getting my EPN banned day before payment and thought I was going to die. Can laugh now but at the time it was less than funny.

If you are going to judge yourself by a number in a bank account, you are going to have a bad time.

Very good points by SEOMet. I will add that it essentially works the same way gambling does (you check your dashboard and you either win or lose) and on the long term it will ruin you if you keep it up. Gamblers lose their soul.
