    Hi,

I am currently ranking at #12 for a keyword, let´s say "cars". For the same site i rank #1 for "red cars".
The page that are ranking for this keyword contains about 600 words, and is a 2-years-old article (but still relevant).
I want to add more information to this page, so that the total words will be around 2000 words. If i update the page, will this affect my rankings? Is Google going to see this as a attempt to game the search-engine, or will Google be fine with it? I am really just adding more value for the visitors by writing more details in my opinion.

    My next question is:
I also rank high for "cheap cars", but for another page (same domain). My focus on this page is to rank first for "cheap cars", and not aiming for "cars". If i do SEO for this page, can it hurt my other page above thats ranking for "cars"?

I am not completely sure but since they both deal with the same subject and have partly the same keywords then I would have to lean towards yes.

Ok, thanks for your reply. Does anyone else have knowledge of this kind of issues?
And what do you think of adding more words to the old article?

I think Google will ok with that. More unique content can't harm. Just don't forget about keyword density.

I've read around that adding more content to older posts helps a lot.You should really give it a try.I don't see why it would hurt your site. You are just updating an old post, wich is good.

Nothing wrong with it if you are boosting the quality of the post. In fact, you may even be rewarded for it.

Yes adding more words to your content should affect your rankings in a good way. Longer articles normally rank better and you can add more LSI keywords within longer content. Of course G will have to re-crawl the site to discover this update with the content.

Second question is no. You can target unlimited keywords per site.

You can add more content and make it more relevant to your keywords, not an issue. Just shows its actively taken care of.

Add more content. I don't think it would hurt your page. But analyze all the figures, first, before anything else. Or hire an SEO expert to do the job for you.
