Hey, I have been running a campaign on AdWords and I was constantly first or second position ad.
Then I had some problems with my payment method and I couldn't run ads for a week or so.
When I continued the campaigns after a week my quality scores of keywords dropped from 8/9/10 to
5/6. Rest assured my ad position as well as bid suffered. CPC doubled or even tripled for some keywords.

The question is how can I get back my original quality scores?
My landing page is optimized both desktop and mobile ranking high scores on Google PageSpeed tests. Also landing page contains all the keywords I am bidding to and is highly relevant to user's search results.

Since you agree that the landing pages are well optimized and relevant, i would recommend for you to create new ad groups and write a couple ad copies. Run the ads for few days and see what the quality score are.

BTW, which component of quality score is falling behind? If it's the ad relevance, then you might consider looking at the search terms that triggered ad clicks and align your ad copy properly. However, if it's the landing page, try to do some optimization.

You need to look at the CTR if it went down. It too affects your QS. Look at the search queries report to find out if your keywords have been showing for some very vague terms (usually happens when keywords have been added in broad match). Once the QS falls your CPC will automatically go up. use the SQ report and put all useless terms in negative. this should help your CTR and in turn your QS. Rest you can always create new adgroups with everything renewed.

I had a really big similar issue. All the sudden clicks and impressions BOTH went down 85% sometime after I removed most of the unique content from the website. I segmented by time of day and it happened after one hour. One hour 1,000 impressions next hour 200 impressions. Impression share went below 10%. No bid changes or anything. Added unique content back and the traffic eventually came back. This never happened before and I think they are adding organic search penalties on Adwords. Average keyword quality score based on either clicks or impressions didn't move either!
