I'm sure everyone knows that Google Adwords Keyword Planner is no longer providing accurate search volumes, and it's been like this for some time now. But if Google is sharing limited information how are there companies out there getting api access to show exact search volumes?

http://keywordtool.io/ is one example and I know of a couple others as well.

They have accounts that spend some money on AdWords.

I'm not sure what is the minimum but I am able to see more accurate amounts(like old times) on my account that is attached to AdWords(spending money on AdWords) than other accounts that don't.

Thanks, I checked one of my old accounts that had a few hundred dollars in campaigns from last year, but it all the looked the same as a free account. As long as they don't hide the 0-1 competition metric as well, the new restrictions aren't that bad.

i didnt know that google keyword tool has now providing inaccurate search volume stats

Would I be correct in assuming that if you have a KW planning tool like Longtail, assuming you spend enough in Adwords to see that exact searches then would Longtail display them again? I would think so since it is linked to your adwords account but I'm not sure.

Google has the answer:

The Keyword Planner in the AdWords web interface proposes new keyword ideas based on your existing keywords and website. You can then retrieve historical statistics for keywords (Average CPC, Monthly Search Volume, etc.) to help you decide whether to use these keyword ideas or not.

You can achieve similar goals in the AdWords API with the TargetingIdeaService, that allows you to retrieve targeting ideas from your own tool/platform to help automate account optimization.

and then some more ...
Mapping to the Keyword Planner
One of the most frequently asked questions about the TargetingIdeaService is: "Why do the TargetingIdeaService results differ from those of the Keyword Planner tool?"

The reason is that a TargetingIdeaSelector can be configured with more than one different SearchParameter, and the returned results may differ significantly when a different SearchParameter is used.
