I find that 90% of all e-wallets, accounts at amazon/ebay, etc will be instantly suspended if they reach a threshold of "allowable" revenue in a day.
This allowable revenue of course fluctuates based upon... nothing...
There was a risk management study I worked years ago when I worked in a bulge bracket as part of my "training":
Insurance company based insurance premiums (think car/health coverage) on credit rating
Our job was to study the effects credit ratings had on default, or insurance calls
The conclusion was actually that a lower credit rating (which was a much higher premium) resulted in slightly lower default rates and far fewer claims. Credit ratings in particular should be dissolved, as basing any type of information on them has (as was pointed out to me after this) historically be a horrible indicator of trustworthiness.
It was more egregious in the case of health insurance though, as of course, most 20 somethings had no/poor credit, but were healthy and extremely low risk. Loans are equally as ridiculous as I found out. Banks, including mine, were not basing loans on down payment amounts (primarily as would make sense) but on 3 numbers in experian. It blew my mind, that they were offering 7% rates to people with 40% down on a home where the bank had the right to seize the equity in cases of default.
I guarantee the US is one of the only countries that does this crap.
Absolutely nothing large corporations do makes any kind of sense... the larger, the dumber, the less it makes sense, the less badly you should feel about constantly violating their ToS
I feel nothing but disdain for ebay, amazon, buy.com, paypal, etc
