Account recovery

has anyone recovered an account since IGs last update? I am trying to recover a disabled account, when I appeal through the links (on a desktop) I get a reply saying “if you think your account was disabled by mistake, log into the app and follow on screeen instructions.” When I appeal through the app I get no reply.. should I try appealing with a VPN?
