I think you can still recover the account , from your email , I'm sure when they changed the email you got a notification asking if it was you that did so, from the email let them know it wasn't you and try to follow the prompt to recover the account , or write an appeal to them .

But incase you're unable to to recover it , on your next account try setting security measures like 2fa authentication

Contact ins customer service, but their account management is indeed too strict, and the account will be blocked and restricted if you are not careful.

I kind of have the opoosite problem
I have the password of the ig account, and the email, but I can't login to ig since it requires confirmation through code sent to whatsapp.
My question is: how were you hacked without the hacker having access to your whatsapp or phone number?
