Hey everyone,

I've built my Wordpress website around the (codename) SportDrink niche. I have about 100 pages built for it. Each page has about 1 paragraph with a brief description of the particular SportDrink.

So here's my problem, I'm trying to rank for keywords: drink Gatorade sportdrink, drink Powerade sportdrink. But when I look at my webmaster stats, the content keywords are obscure things like; thirst, cold, etc. The keyword 'sportdrink', or 'Powerade' are like number 20 on the list. I even wrote a unique 500+ word article focusing on Drinking Gatorade SportDrink.

So on my wordpress site I'm using the plugin - Platinum SEO tool pack and each page I added the Title, Description, and about 4 tags in this similar type of format: drink powerade, drink powerade after excerise, how to drink powerade sportdrink. The paragraph on each Sportdrink are just copied and made unique for SE. The title for each page is basically- Gatorade: Thirst quenching - red, Gatorade: Thirst quenching - green, etc. Obviously each title is different, but focusing on drinking SportDrinks, different flavors, different brands.

I haven't done any offsite SEO, and only wrote the 1 unique article. So when I start an SEO campaign, will that help 'train' the search engines to know that my site is about; drink Gatorade sportdrink, drink Powerade sportdrink? I may just not worry about it and count on my Youtube videos to drive traffic. What are your thoughts?

This seems like a very simple problem, so I'm sorry for such a noob question. I've done tons of reading on SEO, and feel like I've done enough onpage optimization, but perhaps my SEO plugin or Wordpress theme is screwing up something.

That's your off optimize problem. Check your inbound links.

Thanks tojamie, right now the only backlinks I have are from some Youtube videos I made. So after I start building more backlinks on sites besides Youtube, that will fix my keyword issue?
