If I dont count PRs and Business Citations, the only white hat links I build are Guest Posts.
I usually outsource all my links except Guest Posts, University Scholarship Links and Social Media Posting. Why?
I personally know that I have a better chance to have one of the aforementioned links accepted if I do it myself.
What works for me - Guest Post Acceptance
This should be basic, but if I dont do this, I always get denied.
1. Read the blog You want a Guest Post on.
My opening email that works always includes personalization. The owners or authors name, insight to the writing style, and I can quote a couple posts I love.
2. Always use the authors name.
Personal blogs are more likely to accept a post if it is great over a website made by a SEO. If you do not include the authors name, you get denied.
All the 'hello' webmaster emails go right to the spam folder.
3. Explain why the Guest Post is helpful.
Most pitches will do one of two things:
A. Beg for a link while not being personal.
B. Ignore including why the article will help readers of the blog.
Options A is always ignored. Options B is mostly ignored. You must list why your article helps the website owner.
I know most pitches I receive list article titles they want me to post. No other helpful information or reason to accept the pitch.
Guest Post Conditions
The next reason I personally get declined or decline those wanting posts on my site are related to ignoring conditions.
If a website asks for an article to be emailed in as a submission as a .txt file, you need to do it.
If a website requires a $10 guest post review fee, you must do it.
Unless you meet the submission requirements, you application will be tossed in the trash.
Soft Pitching
A soft pitch is asking someone who knows you for a favor. This isn't the dictionary definition, but it is the easiest way to understand the concept.
You want the person accepting you guest post to know who you are. Some what personally. This would be called a warm lead. Since the site owner knows you, they are more likely to accept your guest post.
For example, if @Nargil asked me for Guest Post on my Beauty Blog, I would say yes if the article was decent. We have done work together. I know him.
How do you do this?
You make connections with website owners. The easiest way is with:
1. Blog commenting
2. Social media mentions
3. Mentions of brand on your website
1 and 2 are easy. You comment on their blog of social media. You do this until you get a reply. Then, pitch Guest Post.
3 is more complicated. You would mention the website in your social media or website and let the user owner know it.
By giving a mention you are providing the website or blog owner value.
Know what is auto declined
A lot of submissions are auto declined. You need to ensure your pictch does not go to the spam folder.
What is auto declined includes:
1. Automated messages
2. Non unique titles
3. Ignoring websites requirements
If you cant avoid the automatic filters, your Guest Post will never be accepted.
The bottom line is you need personal connections to land a guest post. You also must meet the websites requirements.
If you cant make a personal connection, a few dollars goes a long way.
If you dont want to pay money, I only find success if I pitch an article that I would read on my target website. The article must meet submission requirements. And lastly, you must make a personal connection if you really want to land that Guest Post.
