AC Banned me for Using a NON-US Phone number

This is the message I received from AC just a day back....

Dear Associated Content Contributor,

The phone number you used to verify your Associated Content account does not match the country you listed on your profile as that of your residence and/or citizenship. Your account has been suspended until we can further verify your account. In order to reactivate your account and receive further payments from Associated Content, you must verify your personal information by providing us with a completed, signed and dated W-9 form, available here: ..........(click on the left hand side where it says ?W-9 Form?), fill it out, and fax it to ....... You may also mail it to: Associated Content, Inc., Attn: Payments Administrator, 88 Steele Street, Suite 400, Denver, CO 80206.

If you are NOT a US citizen, you may elect to have your listed country of residence changed. Please contact with your proper country.

Now some explanation on my part.....

1. I used a Indian Phone number to activate my AC Acc.
2. They accepted 8 articles and then kicked me...
3. I did not use a proxy and I am not a US-Resident. So they knew that I accessed their site from India. (I did not care about Proxy because I read somewhere on this forum that it was not important... I guess I will have to rethink...)

Now, I would like to get further insights.

1. Should I use a US-Phone number for verification?
2. Should I use a static US Proxy for AC?
3. Can I use free Proxies annonymous proxies?

I would be glad if you people can do something about it.

Continue with the same account, do the necessary changes, and accept performance payment.

You can open another AC account using another authentic PP info (maybe in your relation's name), use US phone to verify the new account (search this forum). Always clean your cache, etc., and use USA proxy when using the new account for submitting or contacting them in anyway.

Or do a JV with some US friend (this forum has so many).

Enjoy your 2+ accounts that way for the time being!

I just don't understand why AC needs a w-9 filled out. Unless someone is making $600 within a year, a W-9 form isn't needed. Even if it's used for security purpose to identify Americans from non-Americans there is always ways around getting an AC verified account.
