Abusing a client website / Transferring link love

Morals aside - Does anybody know of any effective (minimal risk) methods of abusing clients websites for your own benefit? Based on the fact, your targeting the same product range. I'm interested in transferring a marginal amount of their rankings to myself, (rankings which took 12 months for me to achieve for them) without setting alarm bells off.

I'm hesitant to use the old cookie cutter methods (background coloured anchors etc) due to the risks involved. Does anybody know of a more subtle/modern approach?

PS. The clients an arsehole

if you can edit the posts where the backlinks are, you can edit 5% of first tier to your money site, then 10% etc

if you can't, ask your client to put a link on their home page to your seo service site : http://www.yourseosite.com/clients.php and cloack the page/clients.php to redirect spiders to your money site. Make the clients.php a fake review page for your upcoming clients.
 
I had this idea awhile ago when working for someone in my niche that had a PR4 site. My thought was just to go after a link vs. anchor text so hide your URL behind a period or something noone will notice.

OR put something up on the site like "Anchor Text" provided by Your Company in the footer of the content.
 
This sounds like a horrible idea. There is no "morals aside", unless you have no morals. If the client is an ass, you stop working for them. Simple.
 
Is it really worth it to do this? They paid you money to help them, you did, and now you want to risk someone that might give you return business for some links?
 
I'm not looking to find Jesus here, and I'm not a believer in neither Karma or God. Patronising comments are to be expected but they don't answer my question - Any modern & subtle technique of pinching rankings would be appreciated.

Bear in mind, I also host this client on my own dedicated server so website access is not a problem.
 
You could have agreed beforehand to have a small footer banner/link/graphic pointing at your service's website. Hell, you could've made this look like an advantage, like having a nice looking small badge "powered by [SEO Service]".

It's all about branding. Your brand on their footer should be perceived as a desirable endorsement/advantage. You call your client an 'arsehole'. Now I challenge you to put yourself in your client's shoes, and not call yourself a 'd-bag'.

You may want to call the no-morals-in-the-mix card, but this is an issue of your work ethics. You want to justify your actions by calling the client 'an arsehole', but that pig just won't fly. Kickflip and RBseatown said it well. You are being paid to provide a service, your client is just a client, and you either provide the service or decide not to, period.

Not interested in opinions on the issue. I have my reasons and I feel completely justified. I'll sleep tonight just fine.

If it was opinions I was after I'd have asked for them, but its not.

Clearly chose the wrong forum to ask the wrong questions. This thread isn't going anywhere so just .... let ..... it..... die ... !

OP, add some new stuff in the stylesheet to make certain in-post links look identical to the post text. Sprinkle your links throughout the posts in such a way that they don't look out of context. Profit. :naughty:

So you wouldn't feel bad about scamming people on Blackhatworld if you made enough profit from it? You have no morals and its all about money? Disgusts me that you are part of this community.
 
there is one thing:

host his pictures under the folder /images on your domain ;) ... your domain will be seen as a source of information therefore will gain little bit.

+ he/she will not be able to see that ;)

Yeah, it's all about the money. Explaining publicly how past clients should be screwed over and taken advantage of can be hazardous to your wallet. At least for anyone who says these things and thinks they'll do business by building clients from BHW.

Or teach potential clients not to be assholes when paying for services, instead of focusing on profit.

How will that teach them anything at all? There is only 1 lesson to be learned here: DamageX values money over ethics and morals. Do business with him at your own risk.
 
Hell man, if you're going to do that, you might as well just get your client's IP (reasoning being for "security" purposes) and write a PHP script to:
1. Ensure the visits are coming from organic search
2. Ensure the visit is not coming from the client's IP
3. Transfer 5-10% of visits to your own site

The proper approach would be, of course, to ask for a backlink in the footer of every page of their site like I do with my clients. You'll benefit enough from the referral visits alone, never mind the SEO benefit as well.

I've been doing the "ethics and morals" part for well over a decade. You know what I discovered? The fucking bank wouldn't take it as payment on my mortgage!

Besides, I assume you're all whitehat too? Otherwise you're just about as unethical and immoral as you accuse me of being. So kindly shut the fuck up and do yourself a favour, go back to making money instead of playing fucking Mother Theresa on the interwebs. :)
