In order to make a professional/classy profile picture you must have to know what you really want. For example if you want pic related to your registered name then there is not much have to do except choose the font style, font texture and shade with the background, or if you want DP with a specific logo init then you have to work a lot for that in order to make it that happen by choosing elements, texture shade and background and continuesly revisions until you got what you want

Professionally done perhaps, but I feel a little self-aggrandising saying that.

Otherwise, I wouldn't call it professional. Imagine some guy sending you his résumé and his picture is him heavily obscured holding an 1860 Colt Army.
