About to buy an IG username

Hello,

Since 3 years I use Instagram with the same username. But I have to put a '" . " between the letters of my username because the username is already taken. So my username is like that : n.ickel ( this is just an example, it's not my username).
The ig of the taken username was inactive for 3 years until I checked yesterday....
So, yesterday I checked and I saw that the ig have a new profile picture.
I made some research and found the person behind this account, a cool 20 years old girl. I send her a message to explain that I really want this username since 3 years and so on... i said that I will be able to pay for this. She just reply me "' Ten grand for the username "', I think it is some humor.

How I can negociate a good price ? And how I can be sure that she gonna change her username so I will be able to put my new username ?

I think if we can fix a price I will pay her 50% before she changed the username and 50% after I changed my username.

Anyway, it's your money, so to handle the payment, you can go with an escrow service.

You already made a mistake, when you revealed yourself that how much and how long you want that username.

Skip it. There are no guarantees that you will give that name and after sending money if nothing happens you even cant write to any support because no one will help you.
As far I know 30% of all IG buy/sell usernames/accounts deals ends with scam.
EVEN on normal forums so with random stranger u can get scammed very quick..
dont waste your money forthis

I really want this username since long time. I think I will try to negociate, 50 dollars is my limit. I have her name, facebook and so on... I will uptade this post if it's work or not

He's right, you gave the girl leverage giving this information. Makes you look desperate.
 
Don't waste your time my friend, it's not worth it. Too many things that can go wrong, and only one thing that can go right.

Having this name will serve no benefit to you (i.e. you are not a celebrity or brand who would financially benefit from it) so you'll have to just find a different one.

I wouldn't even engage with the account owner anymore or they'll likely try to sucker you in (and stalking them on FB isn't a good idea either, lol)

Lol, the OG Username Instagram community is an already established thing. Usernames are sold and bought every single day for personal and business related reasons. As long you send the money as Good and Services, you really should be good, as you could simply just chargeback.

But honestlyyyy, if she seriously asked for $10K, there's really no point of trying to negotiate it down to $50 lmao.

Also, for everyone saying that there's no benefit to owning OG usernames, you are terribly wrong. You cannot tell me that @satan didn't grow because of his name. Owning an OG is honestly very helpful for growing stats, would you rather follow @Food or @food_.tutorials132

Anyway the girl seen don't reply anymore haha. Yes I know that there is 0 benefit but for me this username is special, anyway I can't have it..

But I just wonder how she had the username because the username profil was inactive since 3 years

If you read the posts carefully, no-one talked about OG usernames. OP wants to buy a username for his personal use, now that's what doesn't worth it for that much for sure, but he doesn't want to pay anywhere close to the asking price, so it's a non-issue.

Also PayPal payments are a big fucking no in deals like this, so many things can go wrong, no matter how you send the money.
Why would a deal like this be covered by PayPal's buyer protection at all? Selling Instagram usernames is a grey area at best and against the Instagram TOS, PayPal can easily say that sorry, this is not covered by buyer protection just as if you were buying BTC.

Although if you pay via CC while using PayPal, you can always do a chargeback even if PayPal fucked you over.

In deals like this, if it's a bigger amount, escrow services are advised to use, PayPal should be avoided or at least use your credit card balance, so as a last resort you can do a chargeback if things go sideways.

With 1.7k$ and a plug in Instagram you can get any inactive username which has been inactive for more than 6months I got one for my self as well

Lmao what are you even saying? You literally say "no-one talked about OG usernames. OP wants to buy a username for his personal use" as if most of the usernames purchased aren't for personal uses. And why are you appraising the worth dependent on the use of it afterwards? If you're implying that you truly thought that OP was going to buy @Jake.Mendley343 for $1.7k, then you're literally autistic, it's pretty fucking obvious that OP wanted to purchase an OG. Also, PayPal is the one of the only secure well-known payment methods online, and nobody even discussed whether he was paying through CC or his PayPal balance.
