Hello guys !

I'm currently building a new silo website with wordpress and I think I have done some nice work for the moment. I'll share my technique soon if it work well as it may help some newbie on silo.

But I have a question about URL structure and over optimisation.

I have modified category to page so my structure is actualy like that:

mywebsite.com/categoryname/postname

And my question is: It is over-optimisation if my structure is like that?

(silo keyword is "discount code" for exemple, and keyword of article is "discount code amazon")

awesomediscountcode.com/discount-code/discount-code-amazon

I'm not sure as my exact keyword in this exemple is not "discount code" but "discount code amazon".

From your experiences, should I change it to something like :

awesomediscountcode.com/discount-code/amazon ?

I think I would lost the benefitt of having the exact keyword on my URL but maybe I can avoid overoptimisation..

What's your thought on that?

Thank guys !

No... this is extremely common.

From your experiences, should I change it to something like :

awesomediscountcode.com/discount-code/amazon ?

There is statistical correlation that shorter URLs rank better BUT if you are trying to rank for "discount code amazon" searches then the longer form is better because of the exact match in the URL which correlates stronger.

In terms of content tuning... over optimization is rather hard to do. As long as your page isn't scaring visitors away I doubt Google gives a shit. Over tuning off page factors is MUCH easier to get you into trouble.

Thank you valiseo !
I would not fuck up the entire website with a mistake like that, and I'm reassured to keep the keyword on my URL.

Thank again for your input valiseo

Yes that should not be a problem as far as the URL structure is concerned. Most sites even outside the discount coupon industry regularly have keywords repeated multiple times in the URL structure. Keep the keywords in the domain. I've always had success with that.
