I have a question. I wrote a blog, converted it into PDF or HTML format, and then posted it on some websites that specialize in uploading PDF or HTML files. After posting, I cannot view the file content and need to download it before I can view the content. So, can Google's crawler directly grab the links in the file content without downloading my file?

they don't take it from you. they just don't have enough storage space for your data and when you upload it it becomes a blank file

I apologize for not answering the question asked, but why do you duplicate your blog articles on other sites in PDF and HTML format? Or do you publish part of the content there? It will simply duplicate your article, and there is no guarantee that Google will index it on your site.

When I was looking for backlink services and wanted to see samples, I found that some people provided samples with this form of links, and I was curious. If there is no effect, what is the point of spending money? Is this cheating SEO novices?

I understand. It seems that this behavior does not bring backlinks.

Nah, Google’s crawler can’t really read the content inside a PDF or HTML file unless it can access and render it. If the file needs to be downloaded to view, chances are Google isn’t seeing what's inside. You might need to make sure the content is indexable another way, like adding text versions or embedding links on an accessible page.

If the download link is a simple href link, then yes Googlebot can access the content, though it's doubtful any contained links will provide much benefit. If the site hosting the downloads requires some sort of signup process or is hiding the download links behind a layer of scripting, then Googlebot won't be able to access the files in question.

This,
And whenever the file, as an HTML page or a PDF file can/do get indexed

I don't think it will be indexed in any form, there is no new content for Google, and it will ignore such pages. You can only effectively and without consequences put links to these articles in new texts, this will not work, especially since such sites are usually garbage, and there is simply no traffic from Google. Accordingly, the weight of such links is extremely small, if not toxic at all for your site. It's just a waste of time.

Google’s crawler generally can’t access or index content inside downloadable files like PDFs or HTML uploads unless the file is directly accessible and renderable in the browser without needing a download.

DF and HTML backlinks have their place in a comprehensive SEO strategy, but HTML backlinks generally offer more direct SEO benefits due to their ease of indexing and use of anchor text.

In my experience, Google download and read the PDF file and transform it on some kind of html version, you can see that in Google search console if you pur a pdf file url in inspect.

If PDF is not opened for everyone google will never index that also if pdf dont have HTML format and whole text in a script google will never index that too.

Yes, Googlebot can absolutely crawl and index links embedded within publicly accessible PDF or HTML files without requiring a manual user download. Google treats both file types as structured documents and its crawler is designed to read the content and extract embedded hyperlinks.
The crucial point is public accessibility. If the hosting website (the file host) requires a login, a CAPTCHA, or has firewall rules that prevent Googlebot from directly accessing the file's URL, then the links will not be crawled. As long as the direct file URL is reachable by the bot, the links are discoverable and will pass equity.

No, Google cannot read the links inside your PDF/HTML file unless it can access the file directly. If the site forces a download, Googlebot usually won’t open it, so it cannot crawl the links inside. For Google to read your PDF/HTML content and links, the file must be viewable in-browser (public, indexable, no download barrier).

No, Google's crawler cannot access or index the links within a PDF or HTML file if it requires downloading the file first to view its content.

Google can read it only if the file is publicly accessible and not blocked.

But if the site forces a download first, Google usually won’t open or parse the content inside

No Google can’t read the content unless it can actually access or download the file so if the site forces a download Google won’t see inside it

No, Google's crawlers won't easily see content or follow links inside files that require a download first. They need to access the content directly on a standard web page to properly index it and find any embedded links. For those links to be effective, make sure your content is visible without a download step.

It only brings traffic, it doesn’t count as a backlink to your website.
