About keyword strategy

Dear BHW.
I have started to analyze all keywords with a strategy:
a) Self-generate keywords which closest to each category.
b) Use tools to analyze the keywords thought in step “a”.
c) Collect keywords that are better than "Self-generate keywords".
d) Try searching with the better keywords found in step "c" to find the main competing websites.
e) Use tools to analyze competitors and find keywords that match the topic of your website.
f) Done.
What do you think about my above strategy? Is it right?

Apart from all of this try searching for keyword with KGR method.
These are low competitive, high search volume and easy to rank keywords.
