Hello,

I need to setup and verify a client's Google Merchant Center 2-3 days ago. In this case, does he need to have a GMB account on Google? Also, if the Google Merchant Center profile does not match his existing Google Ads account name, will Google Merchant Center declare it invalid?

I already have all the documents as per Google's instructions.

I would like to seek advice from experts.

In general, making sure all Google profiles are consistent in branding and details can help avoid unnecessary verification delays. If everything is set up properly, the process should go smoothly, so just follow the platform’s guidance and stay patient while the review is completed.

1. Is Google My Business (GMB) required for Merchant Center? - No, it's not mandatory.
2. Will a mismatch in names between Merchant Center and Google Ads have an effect? - Yes, it can become a critical error and lead to suspension.

GMB is not required for Merchant Center, they are separate. Name mismatch between GMC and Ads account is fine as long as your website, business info, and policies are all consistent and accurate.

seems nowadays when you launch a GMC after the initial 3 day review its automatic misrepresentation. im not able to do a single fucking gmc approval tried 7 shops already for shopping ads so annoying.

I think you do not always need a google business profile because the business details should be accurate and consistent but the names do not have to match exactly.
