I've been doing come commenting on some disqus blogs, because I heard they are ********. When I looked at the source, the links weren't even there. It was just some javascript include, and, as far as I know, search engines don't see javascript.

So, do disqus blog comments help with SERPS at all? I sure as hell hope so, because I have one really, really nice comment up on a really good site.

All i have observed is that they do counted as backlinks in search engines.
and if they do get counted in search engines,i am sure they help serps.
i didnt check the javascript thing.

I have heard that some search engines actually count javascript backlinks, but it may be just a myth

Hmm, well, if that's so, then I've got me a backlink from Nasa. :]

There are different versions of disqus. If you have a look at the source of the page, you can see if your comment is there or not and if it is nofollow or not. Some comments will not appear, some have to be approved and some appear instantly. Just try it out

..there are do-follows and there are no-folows. I use SEO for Firefox, so if i visit a page with comments on them, i'll see right away if they are no follow or do follow (no follow links in RED). But if there are no comments, i comment anyways and find out.

..they appear as backlinks at least as seen by Baclinkwatch. And if you check the code, the do follow ones are regular href tags with extra something special for the jscript added, but still, the anchor text is till there and the url it points to.
