Abandoned Twitter Accounts

    hello,

    Does anyone know how you can claim twitter accounts that have been abandoned or left unused? Got a username i really wanna get but someones got already but havent posted since 2007!

    Any help would be appreciated

    You could try to track down the account owner and maybe offer them some money for it.

    I don't think you can.

    I admit though, I do hate it when the username I wanted is taken by an inactive user/egg/spambot.

    I've already looked into this as there was a name i wanted and someone hadn't used it since 2009. Unfortunately theres nothing you can do except try to get in contact with that person which normally ends up not getting a response imo! Twitter say they are working on a solution for this though.. how long that takes i dont know!

    Why not use an alternate username such as twit-1 or 1sttwit. Sometimes it will actually help you do what you want to do. Just an idea, not very original, but at least an idea.
