A Very Very Dark Idea..... Reader Discretion Advised!

So ive been thinking lately... with google's new algo change taking effect and lowering ranks of sites like autoblogs and duplicate content a lot more(if you call the "10%" a lot), what is stopping people from building crappy autoblogs against their competition and post a lot of useless articles flooded with the keywords their competition ranks for in order to lower their rankings?

I know this all sounds pretty immoral, and ive heard the convo about backlinks logically couldn't do that much damage since everyone could do that to competition, but still..... We all are aware of google penalties and instead of worrying about not getting them, why wouldn't you try and give other sites penalties?

The action to penalty a site is only an alert for Google. But they research the sites for a mistake and if there is no mistakes nothing will be done. So your reach will be more than pointless.

One of my sites has been on the 1st rank of Google with a very high competing keyword and I personally know that some silly competitiors have made many requests to Google for a penalty but nothing changed. I stayed on the 1st rank and they continued to see me there...
 
Is not a good ideea. The penalty will be only for your sites because Google knows which is the original
 
Interesting idea. But surely, you would much rather spend the time building DECENT backlinks to your own site.
 
But how will you get the dupe content on their website? This is what Google hates the most, they won't penalize you if links are coming from dupe content because they know people can do just that.
 
I think the point here is that the auto blogs and dupe content are causing sites to be penalized. However setting up these sites and linking to any site, yours or competitor, will not penalize, it will just not pass on any link juice of any value.

So it would be a complete waste of your time and the only outcome would be some poor quality links to your competitor's site.
 
there's no solid proof that link farms can pass a penalty to sites they link to.

So you're only helping your competitor by gaining them links, in fact I hope I'm one of your competitors so I can benefit from all the work you'd put into that. :)

Lol don't be like that.... I'm only putting the idea out there Im personally not interested in doing it myself but just curious to what would happen....
 
Guys come on im not trying to do it myself, im just curious as to what would happen...

I only go for weak keywords with little to no competition anyway because I know how to make that little traffic go viral...

Just a closed mouth won't get fed and im interested in these kind of things just for knowledge :p


 
interesting idea...but everyone would rather spending time on better link buildings than to spoil other sites. we dont have time for both ;)
 
I have also thought of that, but you know, it is better to spend those time building link on your side instead of lowering your competitor. If you outrank him, then he is more likely to be discourage than having himself rank lower but your not improving in the SERP.

I find SEO more like a mental game. Once your #1, you can't go back down.
 
What would happen is that you would waste a good deal of your own time and money, and the effect on your competitors would be - a big fat zero.

Don't you think Google's engineers might have considered that possibility whilst working on the algorithm? It's not like Google hires ex-McDonalds staff...they tend to have the odd brain cell or two...they're really not that dumb.
 
Frankly, don't you thing the engineers at Google haven't thought about this a thousand times? Trust me, Google will know if your trying to hammer your competition and eventually take you down because of doing so.

and do you think Google is some type of magic perfect search engine? Google can be gamed in the favor of your own site and in the disposition of your competitors.
