"A user with that username already exists."

No matter what combination I try for a user name, I keep getting this error message.

Example, when I enter "instausername" as the username, it says it already exists, then when I go to access www.instagram.com/instausername it shows that no such profile exists....

What's going on?

People take up usernames and deactivate the profiles temporarily. That and a lot of them get banned as well. Many get banned right after creating the account. So that username is gone forever.

The profile does exist ! And this is what this account is posting. Lol

The posts are from 2011, this account is older than 99% of the accounts rn .

Well, account banned or disabled or in PV mode, or Captcha mode but as I see from previous member it exists

How do you deactivate profiles in a temporary manner? I do not see an option for that.

I only see option to make account private but other people can still see the profile whether it exist or not. (https://i.imgur.com/8d8Uj53.png)

You can only do it via web. Did you bother running your question through the old Google.com search engine?

Hey thanks. I was just giving an example user name.

I missed the "Example" and clicked right on the link.

"A user with that username already exists."
