I'm looking for a software program that I could add my article archive to, so that when writing new articles it could tell me how unique it is and pick up on strings of words that I've used before.

Something to keep my articles fully unique, because sometimes I write sentences that are almost replicas without realising.

Does anything like this exist?

You can check out dupecop.com for that purpose. I think it has a free version available and a paid one also.

DupeFreePro - Sadly, this software is not free anymore. If someone can get the older version of this (which was free), I'd appreciate it.

If you are using a Mac there is a software called kaleidoscope.
It check the similarity and difference between two sets of text (or articles..etc).

The old free version of DFP won't compare an article to an archive. It will compare an article to another article. Even if you purchase DFP you'll still need the plugin to do that job. What I do is lease my DFP for $10 a month and it has all the plugins. I find it a very handy program and well worth the $10 a month.

To get the old free version you can find it on torrents yet. I downloaded it about a month ago and quickly realized it wouldn't do the job and was poor at best. The new version rocks.
