A Sneaky, Dishonest Trick, That You Can Use Too...

This morning I noticed this little trick on Facebook after one of my friends shared the story.

After clicking over I noticed that the title didn't match the one in the image so I had to investigate further, please see the graphic that I put together for you.



This trick will work well if you can get people sharing the original article because after it goes semi-viral it keeps the original title, which people keep sharing.

Thats nice to see, but you should tell how is that possible to give different title while sharing?

It looks like the title sticks, only then after the content is shared do they change it. I looked at the og:title and that was the same as the new title so the original title must be the one that sticks to the post.

This is easy to do. Install yoast, go to the social tab, set title you want when shared there, and that's what it will be, even if your actual article title is different. It also works for thumbnail and description under thumbnail when being shared. Nothing new, yoast has done this for years.
