A small insight into Google Panda?

I have a large number of sites. Some html, most wordpress. Some on USA servers, some on UK servers. Many use an ad serving solution, a smaller number have CPA Affiliate offers through redirected links, a number also have adsense.

I monitor sites against target keywords weekly and noticed some ranking changes 4 weeks ago on the US server sites - the panda roll-out to US Google. Yesterday I saw impacts on the UK server sites from the UK Panda roll-out. Virtually all sites are keyword targeted domain names and most are in the top 100 slots, many on page 1 or 2.

Some sites have improved rankings, some have lost positions ( still indexed but - 30 or -40 positions).

I have a couple of networks of sites concentrated in two niches. They share heavily spun content and have similar structures. Backlinking has been from some spun articles, light Scrapebox commenting, RSS indexing, some outsourced manual blog commenting (BE and WP). The strange thing at this stage is that they have not all been impacted in the same way.

When I analyse the ranking changes there is a very strong correlation with sites that fell and having adsense on the sites. - Typically left hand sidebar and top left hand corner of the article.

Now this could be that the adsense sites had the larger visitor volumes (from SERPS) and had more ranking to loose - I am still analysing but thought it might help some folks here to share this.

I have now done a series of changes - remove adsense, reduce number of blocks etc in order to see if this makes any change over time.

Has anyone else seen anything similar?

I have few sites that do NOT have Adsesne on them but still went-80,-1000 etc. Unique content no blasts..

I mostly use adsense and some sites with CPa and did not notice a difference... I lost a few rankings for inner pages but they seem to have come back by now.

I had a lot of hubpages articles which ranked really well on Google and earned quite a lot of traffic and got hit really hard. My websites on the other hard (custom made not wordpress) increased. I also launched some wordpress websites last week they are index but not ranking at all (.info domains so I was expecting slow increase but not that slow).
Panda seems to be affecting content farms quite a bit and boosting well designed SEO websites. I am not sure on blogs but I really want to know what people found to happen to blogs since I was aiming to launch a blog before the update. I also was planning on using wordpress but now I am a concerned that wordpress got hammered by the Panda and considering either writting a custom webpage or using blogspot (they wouldn't hit their own website would they?).
Anyone has any feedback on blogs?

My site's traffic drops about 2/3 since April 6th, my main keywords used to be on the first page, but now position is 500. Other keywords drops too. All the articles in my blog are written by myself, and only do 2 times of small blast with AMR, each blast out 100 article directories.

I have adsense on my site and use google webmaster tool.

What do you use for your blog? Wordpress or other script?

this new google algorithm is really strange, i buy a pr 3 expired domain which i used for PTR for almost a year now, with 99% of paying content, i never add any new non payed content at all. and when the last google update strike, it went up to pr 4. well i am only consider my self lucky, without knowing what the hell is going on. For the record, i am totally sucks when it comes to SEO. so any body care to explain?

It seems that sucking at SEO is the key to working with the Panda update. From what I have seen it many niches I target, sites with shitty design, shitty backlinks, and shitty SEO optimization do best. I guess they figure that filling Google with crappy sites that aren't making the webmasters any money is the best way to go.

I just pulled some of my old designs I saved from Angelfire and Geocities. I plan on uploading them to blogspot or some other crappy free hosting site. I'm sure they will rank well.
