So I wasn't sure if to post this one. But it's Sunday and I'm kinda bored and lazy right now, so why not.
I wanna give a shoutout to a friend. Though we haven't spoken in about 2 years. He's the reason I got in the social media business. For the 2 years of fucking around online I ended up working as a transcriber (oh another shoutout, TranscribeMe is an awesome company. It's who I used to transcribe for mostly, they're the best). Then I met a guy on this forum and he was also trying to figure out what to do, and he made a website selling likes/followers. Every few days he'd tell me the money he made and how it worked - payments from clients going to a gaypal, reselling from a panel to deliver.
And it just so happened I had hosting for 3 years, with 1 year already wasted. I had some crappy site on there (a blog) and wasn't doing anything with it. I just got the hosting because early on I became aware that you gotta have your own website to "make money online" unless you wanna be a slave to the fiverrs and freelancers and odesk and upworks of the world... ugh. So I had the hosting and wasn't doing anything with it. Then this friend gets a bunch of cheap website templates on ebay. The types of templates you make a website with to sell smm services. And he gave me a few of them. So I made a website to sell smm services, and it worked, I started making money haha..
Anyway he did it better than me. I went the route of making social pages for my site and growing them as much as possible and all that. He went the way of spamming (a lot of twitter spamming with a bot, also other platforms, back when you could spam much more easily, like 5-6 years ago). He made more money than me in the short term, but in the long term he also made more money than me as FB/TW/Insta/Pinterest eventually banned my pages or my website URL. So it was for nothing, sorta kinda. He was using URL shorteners and bots and cloakers and spintax messages, he didn't care if a social media site banned his URL.
Anyway we became very friendly on Skype and everything. But eventually he sort of lost his mind. Started saying people are telling weird shit about him, and about some video he made, and on FB groups and on Twitter and Youtube videos and posts on BHW people are talking shit about him. I believed him, but then eventually I started asking him to see some of that, and he couldn't show me anything. Like show me some proof, anything, and I'll believe you. But he wouldn't show me anything. He was taking adderral and whatnot, stuff like that. Eventually he started accusing me that I know all about this "conspiracy" about him, and that I'm in on it, like complicit with fucking with him online. It was all very weird.
Eventually he just disappeared and hasn't been around for 2 years. I really miss him. We communicated well, and he was very smart.
But the point is, since then I've really peaked and done well in the business that he sort of opened a door for me to get into, and I'm really grateful for it. My life is infinitely better now because of it. Of course I've worked hard, but him giving me that first template and showing me it's possible and pointing me in the right direction in the beginning really helped. I was still very green back then. But I can't reach him to thank him
He was on this forum too. I won't say his username. He wasn't very active anyway, but his posts would always enrich a thread. He would totally share what he knew openly.
So I figure maybe he doesn't open his skype anymore and his websites are all down, but maybe once in a blue moon he visits this forum and checks things out.
