So I have several USB modems and several computers.

Dumb question #1
I'm wondering which combo of modem's & computers I will need to use to have a different IP address.

Eg Same computer with different modems? Or same modem with the different computers?

I guess the question is - is my IP address linked to my computer, or my modem? Not doing anything sinister, don't really need to cloak myself but there's some accounts that I don't want to be linked together. The stuff that's not "wrong"...but it would void your warranty.

Dumb question #2
I created webstes, gmail, Facebook accounts etc with my old computer before if crashed & burned, I'm still using the same sim card in a different USB stick modem. So the IP address that Google credits to creating that Gmail account...is that different from the IP address I'm using right now?

I seriously don't know how I made it this far without knowing this stuff!!

Thanks for your time guys. :D

What type of connections are upi running. In order to have different ip addresses your connection must be dynamic. I suggest dsl if it is in your area with an actiontec modem.

you can run one computer with one modem and have basically an unlimited # of ips

your ip address comes from your isp or internet service provider. typically either static or dynamic.

you should also consider CC cleaner which you can just google an get the link for the download.

Clearing your browser is helpful when creating accounts of any nature

Hope that helps

That should not be an issue. you can create an account and use it on different ips. Imagine if you could not get on facebook because you created it somewhere other than ur home ip.

Hope that helps

Quick and cheap way to get another IP or several IP's is looking for open wifi networks in your area. Switch to them when needed :). If you have a Dynamic IP address which most providers give you unless you specify u want a staic IP or are registered as a business. You might be able to power cycle the modem and receive a new IP. Try G your modem, there might be some tricks you can try to adjust your IP.
