    Hi guys

A family member of mine has a site which is PR4, its retired but has over 40 pages averaging with at most 1 no follow outbound links per a page with good content too. It's a whooping 14 years old and is in the old html lang you would expect for a site that old lol.

Now, I've been given unrestricted access to this site, I know PR4 isn't mega but I know its high quality due to outbound, and age of the site.

So, what should I do with this site to boost my money site?

Best place to put my anchor texts?
Footers? or in the content or even menu? on all pages or just a few?

Would you blast this old site with blog comments, and forum links to get it even higher?

    Suggestions Welcomed!

Actually has over 450 pages, and the total out pages is less than 5 sites....

It has only 2 Backlinks, PR4 due to age then I guess? :p

What is the theme of the site and is it ranking well for keywords/SERP's? You could consider flipping the site for them?

OK just spoke to him... He wants the site to remain up as it is but I have access to add too it,

After investigating he has around 20 outbound links on a link page with ********.

The Rest of the Site is clean..

Now lets pretend I cant take the site down, or alter the look including adjusting serps :| they suck btw lol vintage glass at like top 50 i think i seen was the best.

So what would you do with it? edit the links and make them nofollow? add my link to footer, menu or what?

Should i blast the site to increase its rank or least try... it aint been linked too in years LoL its VINTAGE!!

Or do I just add my link somewhere and just be greatful for a reliable sticky PR4 site, with 450+ outbounds to my site, or less if you guys say no to footer :p

The domain age will make this a real power house down the road. It is PR4 because of the age. If you develop it right, it will be a very high PR site.

    I would do this.

Start developing it now. Repalce each page one at a time in modern HTML, add a Blog. Start adding new content, and start building QUALITY backlinks to it. Turn it into a new money site, either with ad-sense or affiliate sales.

Examine the content on each page. If it is that old it will fall into one of these categories. Timely information from 14 years ago (entertainment sites, how to sites that covered now obsolete technology,) or timeless information that is as relevant today as when it was written.

If it is the first category, you need to do research and see if there is something on the site that would be of cult or subculture interest. This content may have nostalgic value, or may be useless. Don't dump anything until you have done the research.

If it is the second category. you are in like Flint, just start developing the site as usual. If it is related to your niche, build a page talking about your current money site too.

Take each page and update it. Look at what keywords it is hitting, what keywords related to these existing keywords that you can migrate the page over to increase CPC on the ads. Over the course of a few months, you can change the targeted keywords, you just have to make small changes and see what Google does after each change. Only work on one age at a time, and let it settle before you move to the next. Optimizing the pages will take some time.

Throw up some software directory links, and gradually build other high quality links.

With that domain age, if you build about 3000 quality links it will go PR5 or 6 quite quickly.

Also, if it is related to your niche, a site wide link at the bottom of the page is in order.

Golly, that was ever so helpful to the OP. Perhaps, now that you feel better after calling me names, you could actually give the OP some advice?

Could you at least help us out by explaining the bad advice? This way the OP and I can be dazzled by your brilliance and learn something.

I would find your opinions fascinating. I am always interested when someone has something intelligent to say.

So far you have upped your post count by two, and contributed zilch.

At least I had some advice.

    1) why is this site retired if he still wants information added to it?

    2) why are you giving complete access to it if he doesn't want it changed at all?
