This isn't directed at anyone in particular and since I joined in November, feel free to ignore this noob's thoughts.

This is a great forum but it's turning into a warez board instead of BH/making money. Look, I d/l tons of warez and was on IRC back in the late 80's like a kid in a candy store going "warez?..warez?" but damn, what good is all that shit if you're not going to USE it? I guarantee that a lot of members here likely have 30, 40 or more scripts and ebooks they've never looked at and probably don't even know what they are! What's the point of exchanging warez purely for the sake of swapping around stolen shit? We here to make money right? There are tons of other places to get whatever you're looking for. Once you start seeing non-IM software being passed around here, it's beyond a BH/moneymaking forum, it's a warez warehouse.

What I'd like is more DISCUSSION on making money with BH. The first BH method I tried I got from DP(it was actually lifted from here) and I'm making about 1200/month from it now I'm starting to use some of Nick Flame's ideas and case studies. Great stuff from Nick.I found Brring here and have made some easy money and received my first few checks from it already. These are some great ways to make money that someone took the time to post about instead of looting the latest re-hashed ebook that isn't going to make anyone a dime.

The rep system is getting perverted because awarding rep's for downloads skews the system. If I see someone with a 100 rep rating, is that from sharing great ideas and helping people or is for some download that I can find on every torrent site and many warez boards?

That's enough of my bullshit..just wanted to say I hope this place continues as a vibrant discussion on making money. Warez? Hey, it's great if you are using it to make some money, but remember, someone has to buy the stuff at some point or it will stop being produced. I buy software that I use more than once after the fact. Does it make me less of a "pirate?" No, but if I'm making money from it, why not throw some cash back to the creator to encourage more stuff I can make money from?

Its not a warez board, the stuff that is swapped around is primarily marketing tools and books related to the subjects discussed on this board. 90% of the software and ebooks are garbage but the tactics and methods they use (exploit) often times spawns interesting and educational theories and discussions, so they are helpful. This is hands down the friendliest, most welcoming, non-condescending board in this genre. I have downloaded a ton of free stuff from here, looked at it once, and tossed it, if I had to pay for it I would have done nothing but throw money away. One of the first free pieces of software related to this market that I received was Keyword Elite, I have since purchased it and SEO Elite as well because I think they were worth the money. Black hat seems to have a lot to do with flooding the web with a ton of semi useless crap, which in turn wastes a lot of peoples time which translates into money, so where is the line drawn? Its pretty easy to avoid the threads where someone is giving away a piece of software or ebook.

Yeah ok I'll buy into what you are saying and totally see your side as I believe it to be true.

Now from a totally different view point and I will be the first to admit I have not taken part in this yet, maybe all these downloads are coming from members wanting to show good faith, or they don't want to be accused of taking and not giving?

Just a thought brwipens, I'm not disagreeing with your overall view.

And by the way, awhile ago I checked out Brring and had something else going on besides my understanding was it worked best with pay phones so I kinda dropped it, but maybe I'll take another look thank's for the update.

brwipens, I agree. I think you'll find that most of the people (not all) on this board with a high amount of rep points have actually received them in exchange for warez and, in some cases, have actually begged for rep points in exchange for them. This does in fact defeat the purpose of the rep system. I may even propose to put a ban on requesting rep points in exchange for something, as I think they should only be given out voluntarily.

Another thing that might be helpful is to make everyone's reputation "transparent", meaning you could click on someone's reputation link and see everyone who's given that person rep and what it was given for; kind of like eBay's feedback system.

I like that idea. It would be easier to tell why a person is popular.

Or, we could neg. rep for begging for reps.

Chris

Being this new I have given rep to a few people. Of course, I got something I felt was really useful, so it was deserved to me. I do like the idea of rep being transparent, you could reduce/eliminate the time between giving rep switching to self policing system. If two or three people are trading rep someone will see and report. Yeah, some will say the reporter is a narc, but those remarks will come from people that are trading rep. Patterns can be noticed.
As far as warez go, I was like brwipens back in the budding net days, and now, after a couple of failed online businesses, I am ready to try different approaches, so having useful info is by far more important to me than programs.

Agreed. The begging is pathetic.

Agreed on this point too. I think it merits some consideration by Mod's & Admin's.

Best,
Sine

Rep should definetley only be giving voluntarily and not in 'payment' for apps.
