Hi all,
Just wanted to share a quick tip when you're doing some Keyword Research. A lot of you may already doing this, but I realized this one recently and I'm almost sure this could benefit some of you.
When you're looking at the Average Monthly Searches on Google Keyword Tool, always do an export of your results with 12 months of data. You'll be surprised to see some Keywords - Mainly products KW - showing something like 200 searches average but in fact last 3 months may be at 1500+ researches and first months at 0. Meaning you're keyword is gaining more and more popularity recently.
Basically, if you just look at average monthly searches instead of looking at the details by month, you're probably missing lot of opportunities.
If you want to quickly find them, just export as CSV in Excel, and apply filters on the first line. Then filter my biggest searches results in January 2014 and you might find some gems.
What I like to do is create a lines diagram and see the trends of keywords very quickly.
Hope it can help some of you finding new trending keywords..
