A quick question about Link Pyramids.

Lets say I want to rank high for "how to play guitar" how should my pyramid anchor text look like?

Like should the "200" links poining to my money site say "how to play guitar"? But what should layer 2 say? The same thing? Or maybe "learn how to play guitar"? Thanks.

Create 200 links pointing to your site (With anchor). Then blast those 200 links that are pointing to your site :)

YEs exactly. Or atleast this is how I do. I point my buffer sites with the anchor text same as my sites anchor.

The same keyword phrase which is "how to play guitar"?

You havent got to include the anchor text when blasting the 200 links to your site with mass backlinks..

You just give the 200 links pointing to your site more power as your re-enforcing them with lots of other links. Not sure why or how but Google love this.
 
I would suggest that you vary the anchor text of the links pointing directly to your money site to look more natural. Use the same set of anchor texts for your tier 2 links as well.
 
To me my anchor text does matter since I want to rank high for that keyword. Does anyone have any answers to my simple questions.
 
Yes, I know google likes anchor text variety. My entire website portfolio has mutiple keywords from a variety of sites. My question was how to structure my anchor text. So felixgoh your saying both layer 1 and layer 2 should have the same keyword if they are linking to each other?

Sort of like closed link wheels who use to each web 2.0 site with each other using the same anchor text?
 
if you are trying to rank for "how to play guitar" . after creating the pyramid with the same anchor text . i usualy blast the pyramid with scrapebox AA list or xrumer and i use for anchor text "how to play guitar" .

Use different anchor text from your money site... It will avoid leaving any footprints...
 
I think you should blast 200 link with different keyword but related with your keyword.Like you already said --> "learn how to play guitar" "best technique to play guitar" ....................................... and so more

Tier 1 links (variety of keywords that i will use: how to play guitar, play guitar, learn how to play guitar)

Tier 2 links (variety of keywords that i will use: how to play guitar, play guitar, learn how to play guitar)
 
i am absolutely not expert but
on tier 1 i would mainly use the main KW.
on tier 2 the main and related absolutely mixed.

all the same would be just to unnatural. but thats just my 50c ... common sense.
 
Tier 1 should be exact anchor text
Tier 2 should be exact plus maybe one other related anchor text
Tier 3 should use half of exact anchor text and the rest should be related keywords and also yourdomain.com as one of the alternative anchors so looks more natural.

If you only have a tier 1 and 2 then Tier 1 exact and Tier 2 should be same as tier 3 above.
 
My preferred method:

Tier1: Exact anchor
Tier2: Exact anchor + additional word mix (such as keyword blog, keyword website, how to keyword, etc).
 
If that were the case people would mainly be backlinking with "here" as the anchor text though, thats the most commonly used anchor when someone links to a reference :P

~(it probably is worth throwing a few of those in though, looks pretty natural)

You can use LSI keywords. Just type "~how to play guitar" without the quotes on Google. Here you will see variations of your keywords in BOLD( both in the titles as well as the descriptions). Here's a couple of LSI keywords "Learn How to Play Guitar" or "Learn Guitar". You will find plenty of those if you search till page 5 or so. Another trick is simply typing the keyword in google adword keyword tool. Cheers!!
 
Ok here is how you can arange your pyramid:
1st layer = your main keyword(kw that gets most traffic and is most relevant to your site)
2nd layer = your secondary keywords(these get at least 50% the traffic the main one gets,use multiple keywords so you rank for them all)
3rd layer = your terciar keywords(they get 10-30% off traffic the main one gets,use mutiple ones to rank for em all)
