If I wanted to source local Business within a 50 mile radius of my home town, which is Peterborough UK, is their any program or quick way of finding all these different forms of business. To take it a stage further could I locate Business in a specific niche anywhere within the UK OR even the world. {sounds a bit James Bond ish to rule the worlThe reson I ask is that I want to start writting apps and facebook fan pages and mobile sites etc etc.

Any suggestions - free programes would be great!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks

Use Yell - just type in what type of business you want and Peterborough as the location and it starts closest and spreads out from there in distance.

Have you tried Manta? It does UK and US businesses, although there tends to be less information on UK businesses than US for some reason. Still, it's a good source.

Then of course there's Places Scout (software - and definitely not free!). Haven't used it myself but I know people who use it and swear by it.

Or try searching for a free scraper tool and you should be able to scrape for any business anywhere.

Just a few thoughts for you :D

@ The Op. you really should know where the right place to post
    is by now.

I have two pieces of software for local searches.
you enter your keyword and location/ zip or postcode.
One Mobile Detective will produce the website URL whether or
not they have a mobile site and whether they have paid ads.
This only scrapes US and UK.

    Code:

    VT Scan 0/39

    Download
    Code:
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/aj4fcc67mw2okqg/mobile-detective.rar
    Note:

If you are having errors trying to launch the program you will need to visit this link and download the correct file:
    Code:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre-7u2-download-1377135.html
x86 is for 32 bit and x64 is for 64 bit.

The other Local Lead Finder produces Name, address, phone number
Website URL and country. This will scrape UK, US Canada and Australia.

    Grab it it's free.
