    Hello,

The question mind sound stupid but the answer is decisive for my next project. The question is:

When you do a google search for a word like "référence" for example, do you type "référence" or "reference"?

I hope the question was clear. Thank you for your help.

So from the 2 answers above, french people actually use é à è Éé, Èè, Êê, Ëë in their google searches. Isn't that a pain in the ass? You have to push like 3 keys to type those letters. I had my money on searches without "é à è" Éé, Èè, Êê, Ëë but it seems I was wrong?

Other opinions from french members? What if you have to do a google search for a keyword which have like 4-5 letter with accents in their componence? Do you type the word with or without accents?

Hey there, I'm french and I do type accent in google searches. Get your keyword in Google Keywords to see if most people do type accent or not.

FIY information : it isn't a pain in the ass ;) because letter : é, è, à are letter on french keyboards !

If you're located in France, have french language browser settings and you type with or without the accents, it wont matter I believe; the results will be identical.

I do both but mostly without accents.

1 keypress per letter, not 3

Look at the results in Google.fr, they are not the same

Google has solved that problem ...based of your location they can fix any word and translate it to your location language
