We all have different meanings of happiness. To some it might be waking up every morning, playing with their dog for 8 something hours, getting a big of Call of Duty in there, go for a nice walk and go to sleep. Some people can do this for the rest of their lives. Some people define happiness as getting a 9-5 job in a huge company and putting 80 hours of work, climbing that corporate tower so that sooner or later they become so high up that they will do very minimal, and get paid 'very maximal'. In an extreme example, to some happiness means getting extra water so they won't die from dehydration (Africa example), while to some happiness means owning the newest Ferrari.
It is all perceived value in the eyes of the person.
What I'm getting towards is this... (and I did this about 2-3 years ago, and I love it).
First... I figured out what I really want from life (besides money & health, the two obvious ones). I figured that I really want to be surrounded by people in a social environment where everyone is happy and everyone has a story to tell. I feed from energy of other people, and when they are happy, I am happy. I also realized that I want great friends in my life, and have people always text and call me to hang out or advice, or just ask what I'm doing and a general European "Hey whats up, just calling to talk". Then I figured out if I had all the money in the world, how would I live my life?
So I put money in to bottle poppin' at VIP nightclubs with booths and friends, having 2 cars over $100K, having a $1.2M house, a decent size boat, travel, cool clothing and gadgets, and have enough money to give my family (AND buy my brother a new car).
After everything calculated, I realized that for happiness... I need to do X, Y & Z... aaaand make between $204K - $240K
Now I'm just getting there... and it couldn't be sweeter (everything is none-IM related btw). I can go to a club and put $500 - $1000 on a bottle or two and love it. I can go to an attraction park, and play that damn ring-toss game 40 times and spend $200 on it, just to win that $20 toy for a girl... Money doesn't buy you happiness, it buys you time and experience, which in return gives you UNLIMITED happiness.
