So I've been reading the forums for the last week, and I'm picking up a lot of good info. So I want to thank the community.

So can you technically sabotage another person's site, by down-ranking their site. With bad back links, and other practices I've read here in the forums, etc?

And if someone did, is any way of reversing the damage if it's possible?

Yes, not exactly down ranking.Basically, Google finds your site's full of spam so they kick you out of the search results.

In the amount of time it would take to build negative links for another website, a person could instead build links for their own website and start ranking instead of wasting their time.

Yeah I know, I read the "Art of War" too. I'm just asking if it's possible, let's say I wanted a site for my own. I wanted to force the guy to sell it to me, would I be able to reverse the damage done.

I am sure you can but just be prepared for lots and lots of work...

yes its possible...

the trick is to blast the competitor with so many do follow links.

In life there are folks that are dim - clever and a few geniuses, scattered among billions of people with an average IQ.

Then we get to people with 'ROCKS IN THE HEAD' yes they are the few that waste time sabotaging websites...

Some folks may describe this ilk of morons as IDIOTS...

A more positive approach probably produces a happy life which, after all, is what it's all about. There are times in life when you must take drastic measures to defend yourself but to start this type of conflict is unwise.

You joke, but imagine if someone came and set fire to your office block you invested thousands in every month. All your business documents, all your hard work gone. It's the same concept. Don't be stupid.

Don't do negative SEO. The more people that engage in it, the more common it becomes, until we're not focused on ranking our own websites anymore, instead, we're focused on getting everyone else's removed.

Just take your time and build up your website.

There's no such thing as bad backlinks. They only become bad when the only ones you have are low page rank sites.

Yes you can definitely do it by building good loads of unnatural links pointing to the Moneysite which can create a negative effect on the same. These unnatural links has to come from poor irrelevant sources so can be created by using black hat bots. This is technically Termed as "NEGATIVE SEO"

And if someone did, is any way of reversing the damage if it's possible?

Recently a New tool has been created by the Team Google and has been named as Disavow Link Tool. This Tool helps in Disavowing/Hide the links which you feel like should not be counted as Links pointing to your Moneysite or you have felt that there is some unnatural links which you haven't created plus is pretty much confirmed that the presence of these links can harm your site's ranking.(Disavow Link Tool is not a safe one to be used unless you are sure about using it)

I'm glad you can read because that means you can read "The Art Of Happiness". You want to destroy someones site so they sell it to you? Sorry, but that's bottom feeder thinking.

Rather than continually answering the same question, I uploaded an xls (Excel 2003) spreadsheet for Mugshots . com (49,000 backlinks & 10.8 mb) where someone (not I) has been doing this. Link to spreadsheet. Notice the amount of links with anchors of penile, penile enlargement, viarga, porn, linkfarms (facesaerch, picturesonline, and others), etc. It has not harmed mugshots that I can detect.

Draw your own conclusion.
