I made this thread not so much to question about pewep, but to ask the question... Do you think it's possible to obtain enlightenment and become a master at business as well? Usually you see one or the other, never both. That's why I had to ask. Are there some examples of this?

I know there are. But you must find them (the real ones) on your own, because they are humble and would not want the others to know through their own words. Others have written about them and their spirituality, and they too have kept that aspect a low-key! :) If you look care4fully and with focus, you'll easily spot them, and in numbers!

Some very successful ones are actually practicing true spiritualism in their day-to-day business, and day-to-day business while being highly spiritual all the while, and without actually abusing both fields.

A true spiritual businessman will never say about his spirituality in so many words -- say it only by his deeds -- and unless he has to.

Somethings, interestingly, you must find out on your own and the right answers will reveal to you in due time. ;)

To answer the last part, I think Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg are two best examples I know of.

    P.S.:
Sorry, forgot to add Bill Gates to the exclusive list... he too is a very spiritual person imho.:) And, there are also many who are both spiritual and businesspersons. One of my maternal uncles was both, although he was not as famous! lol

Business by nature is a game of earning more money. If someone is enlightened, by my personal definition, they would have no urge to earn money. They'd be focused on other things. You never saw the Budha trying to hustle and sell stuff, he was always meditating.

I strongly think it's possible, it just depends on how you go about it. I practice vajrayana and one of the core principles is that you can be a very "ordinary" person in your day to day life but flip a switch when needed. You don't need to spend hours and hours per day meditating (I mean more than 8, I try to shoot for no less than 5) because the ones provided are extremely hard but effective. Now the tricky thing is that it definitely isn't for everyone, but it allows people to function in the real world while still seeking enlightment. Even then you still need to go on a month retreat once per year.

Secondly keep in mind you can meditate 24/7 - it's not easy but if you rest your attention on [insert object] as frequently as possible, it is possible to train constantly, even when sleeping. The same goes with meditation btw.

I should add that Dr. Reginald Ray is an example of a person who has a very active "normal" life while still being EXTREMELY, *EXTREMELY* advanced. Keep in mind (and this is fucking hilarious to me) that this is a guy with real huge power but never talks about them unless it's during a retreat, etc... Really tbh these things are almost never discussed unless you also have abilities (for very obvious reasons).

Lastly, I feel like this is important not just with meditation but with anything in life:

Enlightment isn't something to half ass and hope you fall in some day. It's something like getting super rich, you actively have to pursue it and make it the very center of your being. That means everything you say, everything you think and everything you do has to bring you closer to realization. And keep in mind even it is only the beginning hahah :D and there are many, many levels of realization. Just meditate consistently and you'll find the right path for yourself.

Another example of a master at business as well as spirit is John Chang - the current leader of Mo Pai. He has 7 kids, a multimillionaire but also is, well, lol just look up the videos made on him in the 80s.

You are already enlightened, except that you do not know it yet.

Enlightenment isn't about ADDING something. It is about SUBTRACTING things -
subtracting your hang ups, judgmental thinking and other things that hold you back.

I studied under an enlightened master for five years and he said that you need
to think of yourself as a garden that is full of weeds. Once you remove the
weeds, you will see that there was always a "flower" (enlightenment) underneath,
except that you could not see it before.

    Beyond that, I can say no more . . . :)

    Cheers!

I *100%* agree with this. Completely. When you reach the point where you are uprooting more weeds than are growing, you're on your way. Time is meaningless, you'll get there.

I am closing this thread now, since it borders on religion and
as most of you know, religion and politics are forbidden topics
on our forum, due to the fact that many people have strong
and often opposing opinions and beliefs where those two topics
are concerned, and more often than not, those types of
discussions lead to "flame wars", which is something that
we neither need nor want on BHW.

    Thank You - "Wiz"
